LCD Television
The Other Terminologies In LCD Television
In the two previous articles, I have already explained some terminologies in LCD Television such as Afterimage, Bit, Brightness, Contrast, Color Reproduction, Horizontal Resolution, Vertical Resolution, Resolution, Luminous Efficiency, Number of Pixel, Pixel and Gradation. In this article you will find another terminologies in LCD Television that related to Image Quality.
Processor
The processor is the central component, we can say that processor is the brainof a computer. It serves to process data. Processor are found not only in personal computer but also most modern electronioc products, ranging from AV equipment, such as LCD Television, DVD recorders, digital cameras and mobile phones to home appliances, such as microwave ovens, rice cookers and air conditioners. In a TV, the processor quickly processes a huge amount of data, such as high definition image data, for displaying images on-screen.
THX
THX display certification signifies that VIERA HDTV has been designed and tested achieve THX’s rigorous standards for image performance and quality, ensuring a superb cinematic experience at home
Transmissivity
Transmissivity is the difference between the amount of visible light from the light source entering a panel and the amount of light exiting from the panel. High transmissivity produces bright, clear images. Low transmissivity reeduces glare, but darkens the screen and makes images difficult to see.
Driver
A drive circuit that displays images on a Plasma Television or LCD Television panel based on the video signal processed by the processor
Full High-Definition Panel (HD)
The term Full-HD Panel in Plasma or LCD Television refers to 1.920 x 1.080 pixel specification HDTV signals without the use of upsampling
Gamma
Ideally, the surface brightness of the display should change in direct proportion to the amount of input voltage (in such a case, the gamma value is ‘1′). In fact, it varies functionally. Gamma correction is process to bring the gamma value as close to ‘1′ as possible.
HD Panel
In Flat Screen technology such as Plasma or LCD Television, the HD Panel has a resolution of 1.355 x 768 pixels and an aspect ratio of 16:9. It is designed for displaying the beautiful images of digital high definition broadcasts.
